Director for Library System in South Central Oklahoma
The Board of Trustees of the Southern Oklahoma Library System (SOLS) seeks a responsive, innovative Library Director who values excellent customer service.
Candidates must have an MLS or MLIS from an ALA accredited library school and five (5) or more years of experience in library administration and management.

SOLS has eight (8) community public libraries in five (5) South Central Oklahoma Counties. The Headquarters Library/Business Center is conveniently located in Ardmore which is a midway between Oklahoma City and Dallas, TX. Ardmore is considered a “hidden gem” with a strong and growing economic environment. It is one of the best cities in Oklahoma and the southwest to live and work.
The Director serves at the discretion of the Board of Trustees for providing the vision and for directing and evaluating the management, administration and operations of the Library System in compliance with Board policies and directives. He/She works with the Board to set the strategic direction and policies of SOLS and carry out its vision and mission. The Executive Officer places a strong emphasis on outstanding customer service, including serving as chief library spokesperson with the media and the public; develops and implements plans for new facilities, renovations, services and programs; and performs other duties as needed.
The Director provides strategic and operational leadership for SOLS and seeks new services to meet the changing needs of customers and the communities served. While reporting to a 14 member Board of Trustees, the Director supervises personnel and is responsible for fiscal management; marketing and communication; fundraising and development; emergent technologies; facilities; and engaging with external partnerships.
